Minty Edwards is a contemporary mixed-media artist working across collage, assemblage and painting. Her richly textured compositions bring together found objects, printed imagery, fabric and colour, transforming everyday materials into imaginative landscapes and cityscapes.
Her work explores the relationship between an object’s identity and its visual possibilities. In Oxford, books represent library windows, a compass echoes the spires and a protractor recalls the curve of a dome. The materials belong to the life of the city while also describing its architecture. In Metropolis, accumulated objects and fragments create an urban world animated by unexpected encounters and shifts in scale.
Her landscape work brings this approach into more organic forms. Threads, reflective details and densely worked surfaces evoke flowing water, rock and vegetation. Materials contribute both to the image and to its physical presence, giving the surface a sculptural quality.
A playful, surrealist sensibility runs through her practice. Familiar objects remain recognisable, yet acquire new meanings through their placement and relationship to one another. Her compositions invite viewers to move between the larger scene and its individual elements, discovering how small, seemingly unrelated fragments can come together to describe a place.
