Lowlands

Lowlands presents an open, low-lying terrain beneath a soft, hazy sky, built up in warm ochres and ambers against pale grey-white cloud. A band of cool, pale light along the horizon separates the sky from a foreground of layered browns and golds, in keeping with Barbara Grenet’s practice of evoking atmosphere and remembered landscape rather than a fixed, literal view.
